Eagle Candidates

Life To Eagle Process Overview

Troop 82 has advanced 1,107 young men to the rank of Eagle Scout since its founding in 1955.  We have developed a structured program to support scouts in their Life to Eagle journey to realize their abilities to lead, organize, and accomplish hard things!

Troop 82 scouts who have achieved the Life Scout rank are to remain active in the troop while they work and complete their remaining merit badge requirements and Eagle project. See the Troop 82 Staff Scout Policy for those Life Scouts who are in high school.

The Eagle Scout Project is a scout-led effort to plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project that benefits a religious institution, school, or community organization in the Dallas community. Scouts must demonstrate leadership skills to manage other volunteers to complete the work. The scout will work through an Eagle Project process framework established by Scouting American to (i) scope, (ii) plan, (iii) execute, and (iv) report on the project. At each stage, the scout interacts with adults to get feedback and signoff on the work completed. There are many constituencies involved in the Eagle project process to work with the scout, including his Company Scoutmaster, Eagle Coach, representative from the beneficiary organization, Scouting District representative, Troop 82 Eagle Scout Chair, and, yes, his parents.

At the beginning of each semester, the Troop Eagle Chair holds a webinar for Life Scouts to walk through the Eagle project process and address any questions. Feel free to email eagle@hptroop82.org with any questions.
